WHAT’S NEW FROM THE CUTTING EDGE – NOVEMBER 2021
1) FOCUS MATERIAL FOR NOVEMBER 2021
Last month, we wrapped up our journey with MODES MADE EASY and built a bridge back to the blues with a new song for the SONG PCK section: Down By the River (Em9 and A7). This month, WHAT’S NEW FROM THE CUTTING EDGE – NOVEMBER 2021, we learn a new song titled “One Way Ticket.” This is a funky, 12 bar blues song in the key of A. This song has a strong country influence! Be sure to check out the backing track for this song, located in this video instruction series, in the SONG PK section of the channel.

2) BACKING TRACKS
Be sure to practice your pentatonic to favorite backing tracks. Practicing to backing tracks will help you grow and develop your solos much faster!
3) LIVE Q&A VIA ZOOM
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, at a NEW TIME – 9 pm EST – LIVE Q&A VIA ZOOM!
– ALL students from the channel are invited to join me for a monthly 1-hour virtual call with Q&A.
– Live calls will be held via the Zoom platform, and they will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, at 9 pm EST.
– This month’s Zoom call will be WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, at 9pm EST.
ZOOM LINK & MONTHLY CALL RECORDINGS: I’ve added a folder to the channel titled “MONTHLY CALLS – VIRTUAL Q&A.” In this folder YOU WILL FIND THE ZOOM LINK FOR EACH CALL, a video recording from all previous calls, notes, and any additional resource materials from the call. Mark your calendars and join the conversation!
4) WEEKLY WORKOUT:
Beginner to Intermediate Student:
– Be sure to warm up with one of the three-finger exercises each day! Remember, take your time— it’s not a race! You will find these exercises in the “Blues Guitar for Beginners” section, lessons 3, 4, and 5.
– Continue working with the Em9 and A7 backing track for Down By the River. Continue experimenting with your pentatonic scales, and work on learning how to solo! If you’ve been playing for a while, expand your vocabulary, and build a better understanding of how to use effects and tricks. You can use for adding emotion and texture to your solos.
– Make sure you know your pentatonic scales, and practice them to rhythm tracks found in the LET’S JAM section of the channel. Note– this can help you move forward at a faster pace! Make sure to practice your minor pentatonic in the key of E and A and learn the roadmap so you can use it with Freedom!
Intermediate to Advanced Students:
– Learn the new song for the month— One Way Ticket! 1, 4, 5 progression in the key of A. You will find this in the SONG PK section of the channel.
– Drive into the new Down By the River solo material and expand your vocabulary, and build a better understanding of how to use effects and tricks you can use for adding emotion and texture to your solos.
