WHAT’S NEW from the Cutting Edge w/ Kelly Richey – MARCH 2022

This month, we kick off WHAT’S NEW from the Cutting Edge w/ Kelly Richey – MARCH 2022, with more NEW Backing Tracks and tips for weaving together MAJOR & MINOR pentatonic scales for blues and blues-rock guitar soloing!!!

NOTE: In case you missed this from last month – I added a new 10 part series in the “BACKING TRACKS” section, and the folder in this section is titled – “Tips for Playing w/ Backing Tracks (12 Bar Slow Blues – Soloing Tips).” Please be sure to use this as a reference for best practices with guitar backing tracks!

1) FOCUS MATERIAL FOR MARCH:

– This month, I’ve added new videos for weaving your major and minor pentatonic scales together for 12 bar blues and more sophisticated blues patterns. This mini-series is the same chord progression used in the song “Trouble In Mind, found in the Backing Track section “LET’S JAM” series.

We explore an expanded 12 bar blues progression in this mini-series and learn tips for weaving the minor and major pentatonic scales together. This chord progression has a 1 – 6 – 2 – 5 Turnaround and a Dm7th and EbDim7 over the 4 chord.

These videos are located in the “SONG PK” section in the folder titled BONUS VIDEOS – “12 Bar Blues – Key of A – Part 1 – 4″ focusing on weaving together Major & Minor Pentatonics.”

01 – 12 Bar Blues – Key of A – Overview – Part 1
02 – 12 Bar Blues – Key of A – Chord Progression Tutorial – Part 2
03 – 12 Bar Blues – Key of A – Minor & Major Pentatonic Weave – Part 3
04 – 12 Bar Blues – Key of A – Minor & Major Pentatonic Weave – Part 4

2) BACKING TRACKS:

The NEW Guitar Backing Track folder continues to grow!!! Be sure to check out the Backing Tracks folders for new extended play backing tracks for NEW grooves in the key of A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. These backing tracks are designed to give guitar players the opportunity to develop their soloing ideas to expand their abilities to jam to backing tracks! …so LET’S JAM!!!

3) WEEKLY WORKOUT:

Beginner to Intermediate Student:

– Be sure to warm up with one of the three-finger exercises each day! Remember, take your time— it’s not a race! Also, always be sure to use a metronome when practicing your finger exercises to get the most out of your practice time! You will find these exercises in the “Blues Guitar for Beginners” section, lessons 3, 4, and 5.

Intermediate to Advanced Students:

– Spend time practicing your pentatonic scales to backing tracks and explore all the different grooves that are being added each month! Playing to backing tracks helps you develop your guitar solos and develop your unique signature sound!
