WHAT’S NEW FROM THE CUTTING EDGE FOR AUGUST 2021
THIS MONTH’S FOCUS AREA:
1) FOCUS MATERIAL FOR AUGUST: MODES MADE EASY!!!
This month we add the Dorian mode, and our main backing track will focus on a funky groove in A minor that uses the Dorian Mode.
This month, we continue building a bridge from our pentatonic scales to our minor modes, what I like to describe as 5 + 2 = Freedom! The five notes of the minor pentatonic scale, plus the two extra notes of the minor modes. We kicked off the series with the Aeolian mode, and our main backing track was a laid-back groove in A minor that uses the Aeolian Mode.

2) UNLOCK THE POWER OF PENTATONICS
I’ve added a new section titled – UNLOCK THE POWER OF PENTATONICS!!! In this section, you will find a 10-part series with everything you need to know to build a strong foundation in the pentatonic blues scale! Once you’ve mastered this roadmap, you can begin to add the extra two notes from MODES MADE EASY to expand your vocabulary!
3) AUGUST 11 at 8 pm – LIVE Q&A VIA ZOOM!
– ALL students from the channel are invited to join me for a monthly 1-hour virtual call with Q&A.
– Live calls will be held via the Zoom platform, and they will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, at 8 pm EST.
– This month Zoom call will be Wednesday, August 11 h, 2021, – 8 pm EST

4) WEEKLY WORKOUT:
Beginner to Intermediate Student:
– Be sure to warm up with one of the three-finger exercises each day! Remember, take your time— it’s not a race! You will find these exercises in the section titled “Blues Guitar for Beginners,” lessons 3, 4, and 5.
– Make sure you know your pentatonic scales, and practice them to rhythm tracks found in the LET’S JAM section of the channel— this can help you move forward at a faster pace! Make sure to practice your minor pentatonic in the key of E and A and learn the roadmap so you can use it with Freedom!
Intermediate to Advanced Students:
– Continue with the Aeolian Mode and play along with the new Jam Tracks as they are added throughout the month!
– Shift your focus to the Dorian Mode as you are ready!
