WHAT’S NEW FROM THE CUTTING EDGE FOR JUNE 2021

This month’s new content and channel layout for June 2021:

Be sure to watch the video with details for this month’s focus areas and read the tips below for getting the most out of the channel.

THIS MONTHS FOCUS AREA:

1) NEW FOCUS MATERIAL – WHAT IN THE WORLD – in the Key of E

This month, we learn “What in the World” in the key of E. This song has a beautiful chord progression, and it allows you to stretch past the typical three-chord blues progression and expand your playing! This song lays the foundation for a new series I will introduce in July, which will help you expand your vocabulary and strengthen your ability to play lead guitar by adding two notes to your pentatonic scales! Stay Tuned!!! ;>) We’ll be exploring modes from within the comfort zone of the pentatonic scales. This system is great for students who have never understood modes or feel stuck and need a creative boost!Watch the new video series in the Mean Old World SONG PK section of the channel, and then jam to the rhythm track provided!

2) JUNE 9th at 8 pm – LIVE Q&A VIA ZOOM!

– ALL students from the channel are invited to join me for a monthly 1-hour virtual call with Q&A.
– Live calls will be held via the Zoom platform, and they will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, at 8 pm EST.
– This month Zoom call will be Wednesday, June 9th, 2021, – 8 pm EST

ZOOM LINK & MONTHLY CALL RECORDINGS: I’ve added a folder to the channel titled “MONTHLY CALLS – VIRTUAL Q&A,” and HERE YOU WILL FIND THE ZOOM LINK FOR EACH CALL, a video recording from all previous calls, notes, and any additional resource materials from the call. Mark your calendars and join the conversation!

3) WEEKLY WORKOUT:

– Be sure to warm up with one of the three-finger exercises each day! Remember, take your time— it’s not a race! You will find these exercises in the section titled “Blues Guitar for Beginners,” lessons 3, 4, and 5.

– As you’re ready, begin practicing to rhythm tracks— this can help you move forward at a faster pace! Before playing to any “Jam Track,” practice muting all the strings and strumming your guitar to the song’s tempo. Make sure you feel the pulse of the track your playing! By doing this, you build a connection to your instrument and develop your feel! Feel is critical— if you don’t feel it, nobody will feel it!

– Continue working with the 50 Licks Squared series! Apply these concepts when developing your lead guitar vocabulary!

– Make sure to practice your minor pentatonic in the key of E and A and learn the roadmap so you can use it with freedom!

4) POST YOUR VIDEOS:

I’d love to see some video footage of you soloing over the rhythm track of your choice! IF anyone is brave enough to post yourself playing— that would be sweet! Don’t be shy!

5) ONE-ON-ONE GUITAR LESSONS:

Please know that I’m available for one-on-one private lessons via Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime. I’m here to support you in whatever capacity you need! Find out more by clicking on this link: https://guitarlessonsbykellyrichey.com
